Denisse is bilingual and provides evidence-based practices to children, adolescents, and adults. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and her Master of Science in Counselor Education with a focus in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Florida International University (FIU), where she was a BHWET Fellowship recipient.
Her clinical experience spans working with children, adolescents, and adults across school, home, treatment, and community-based settings. She has extensive experience providing behavioral treatment to children and adolescents diagnosed with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), and conduct disorder (CD). She has also facilitated psychoeducational groups for parents, equipping families with strategies to better manage challenging behaviors and support their children’s growth and development.
In addition to her work with children and families, Denisse has counseled adults who were navigating concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, psychotic disorders, addiction, and life transitions. She has facilitated both individual and group therapy, tailoring her approach to meet the needs of diverse populations. Her therapeutic style is integrative and client-centered, incorporating person-centered, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), and strength-based interventions to best meet each client’s unique needs. Denisse strives to create a safe and collaborative therapeutic environment where individuals feel supported in expressing their authentic selves.
Denisse’s background also includes clinical research experience where she conducted diagnostic interviews, standardized assessments, and coordinated studies with children and families in both English and Spanish. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Denisse is passionate about fostering an inclusive space where clients feel heard and empowered. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys spending time with her dogs, working out, spending time with friends and family, and watching her favorite TV shows.
