Jackie patton, ms

Jackie is a mental health counselor with experience providing therapy to children, teens, and adults. She helps clients struggling with various concerns including anxiety, depression, ADHD, eating disorders, substance use, trauma, family/relational issues, gender/sexual identity concerns, and grief/loss. She is passionate about helping her clients understand their strengths and discover new tools to navigate their challenges.   

BACKGROUND + EDUCATION 

Jackie recently moved to Miami after graduating with her Master's in Clinical Psychology in August 2020. She was born and raised in a small town in Maryland, about 30 miles west of Washington, D.C. She received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Maryland in College Park, MD. As an undergraduate, she worked for a research lab as an intake counselor for patients at an inpatient substance rehabilitation center in Northeast Washington D.C.   Jackie completed her Master's degree at Towson University - a public university just north of Baltimore, Maryland. During this time, Jackie served as a research assistant at Sheppard Pratt - the largest private psychiatric hospital in the U.S. She worked on the eating disorder unit where she led support groups for patients in recovery and assisted in the publication of treatment-related research.   

APPROACH TO THERAPY 

Jackie takes a client-centered, collaborative approach to her work with children, teens, adults, and families. She believes that you, as the client, are the expert of your own life. In sessions, Jackie works with you to co-create meaningful goals for therapy and tailors her approach to your unique needs. She uses techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help her clients identify negative patterns and reframe unhelpful narratives. Her clinical work is rooted in her research background, and she strives to provide her clients with evidence-based care to address their concerns.
