MEET LIZZIE!
Lizzie works with all ages, with a special interest in working with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief and loss, relationship concerns, trauma, and self-esteem issues. She is passionate about helping clients better understand themselves, recognize their strengths, and develop the tools and confidence to navigate difficult seasons of life.
Lizzie especially enjoys working with adolescents and adults who may feel anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves. She strives to create a space where clients feel comfortable being themselves and can explore what they are experiencing without judgment.
BACKGROUND AND EDUCATION
Lizzie earned her master's degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh and her master's degree in counseling from Wake Forest University, where she completed a CACREP-accredited counseling program. During her graduate training, she gained clinical experience working with adolescents and adults with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, OCD symptoms, emotional dysregulation, and major life transitions.
Before entering the counseling field, Lizzie spent many years working with children, adolescents, and families through her work in education. This experience helped shape her particular interest in supporting adolescents and parents.
APPROACH TO THERAPY
Lizzie's approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and individualized. She believes that clients are the experts on their own experiences and that therapy works best when people feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted.
Her approach is primarily person-centered while integrating techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and trauma-informed and somatic approaches. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, Lizzie helps clients become curious about the thoughts, emotions, experiences, and patterns underlying their struggles.
Lizzie believes that greater self-understanding can create space for meaningful change. She works collaboratively with clients to identify their goals, develop practical coping strategies, strengthen relationships, and approach difficult emotions with greater awareness and self-compassion. Above all, she strives to create a therapeutic relationship where clients feel safe enough to be authentic and supported as they work toward greater confidence, connection, and emotional well-being.
